The right way to shave your bikini line
Read this before you shave your bikini line the next time.

Step 1: If you have gone too long without shaving, trim your hair first. Then clean the area with warm water. The hot water will soften the outermost layer of the skin making it easy for you to remove hair. Pat dry the area with a towel and then gently exfoliate the area to remove any dead skin cells. An exfoliating scrub will also help remove any ingrown hair before shaving. Here are expert tips to avoid ingrown hairin bikini area.

Step 2: If you do not use a shaving cream to create enough slip, you are likely to irritate your skin. Use a good quality shaving cream with moisturising ingredients like shea butter and olive oil. Apply a thin layer of shaving cream on the area so that you can see the hair shaft and the skin underneath.

Step 3: Your bikini area is extremely delicate, so invest in a good razor. Choose a firm, sturdy blade. Never shave against the direction of the hair growth as the razor can nick the hair follicle and lead to a red bump. Also, keep the blade downward while gliding the razor so that there is not much pressure.

Step 4: Then wash off the area with cold water or hold a cold compress to the area for 5 minutes so that there is no irritation. You can also use anti-inflammatory oil like tea tree oil to reduce inflammation and calm the razor burn.

Step 5: Use a hydrating moisturiser in the end. Apply an alcohol-free moisturiser on both sides of the bikini line to avoid over drying. It is best you avoid heavy creams as they can clog your pores. Try using this quick and easy homemade moisturiser.
