Lunch: Since excessive weight loss is a major side effect of hyperthyroidism, eating foods rich in protein like fish, lean meat, soya, pulses lentils is a good way to maintain strength and muscle mass. So, eat two chapattis along with a bowl of dal in the afternoon. Combine it with grilled fish or meat topped with herbs. Herbs such as basil, rosemary and oregano have anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve thyroid function. Soybeans and soyproducts can help an over stimulated thyroid. So you can replace the fish and meat with this recipe for a chana soya sabziif you are a vegetarian.

Evening snack: An overactive thyroid depletes zinc so eat a handful of almonds and walnuts in the evening as they are good sources of zinc. You can also add flax seeds to your yoghurt or smoothie for a satisfying evening meal. These tips will help you deal with hyperthyroidism during pregnancy.

Dinner: For dinner, eat a bowl of soup followed by two chapattis and a bowl of cabbage or broccoli sabzi. While cruciferous vegetables can be the worst choice for those suffering from hypothyroidism, it is the complete reverse for hyperthyroidism patients.
