, inexpensive, and best used in its liquid form – and it’s not colloidal silver. It’s a concentrated extract of grapefruit pulp and seeds known as grapefruit seed extract (GSE) , not to be confused with grape seed extract.
Grapefruit Seed Extract for Candida
Though sold in capsule form, concentrated liquids of GSE have more applications as long as you don’t get any into your eyes, open wounds, or take straight without diluting (usually 10 drops) in water or juice. GSE producers claim it has a high rate of success with Candida if taken two or three times daily while abstaining from alcohol, refined sugars, and processed grains or refined carbs.
Along with using the right diet and GSE, ingesting strong probiotic supplements should be part of the Candida protocol’s foundation as well. Start with10 drops or one capsule between meals twice daily in water or juice. After three days, bump the dosage to 15 drops twice daily for seven days. Then use a 15 drop dosage three times daily for another two to three weeks. Details on the Candida protocol here.
There have been many successes reported using GSE for satisfactory results with candida when accompanied by an appropriate diet and added probiotics. Chronic candidiasis (both intestinal and systemic) is being treated with excellent results using GSE. Dr. Ron Grisanti mentions that clinics and medical practitioners have reported a high success rate for Candidaand most other infectious maladies.
“Dr. Leo Galland, who prescribes grapefruit seed extract for chronic candidiasis has reported teatment failure in only two out of 297 cases. And considers it to be a major therapeutic breakthrough for patients with chronic parasitic and yeast infections.”
The question of whether or not GSE kills beneficial bacteria has been answered with a “qualified” no. Qualified because it seems it doesn’t, but little published testing has been done to confirm this according to a GSE sitethat addresses questions about GSE.
Just to be safe from the outside chance of upsetting the probiotics with GSE, ingest probiotic substances at least an hour after taking GSE.

Other GSE Uses
Many use GSE for viral infections, colds, bacterial infections, and parasites. A Candida protocol always demands high probiotic consumption. But whether fighting Candida overgrowth or not, probiotics of some sort should be part of our daily routine for optimum health.
Look into making homemade fermented foods, milk or water kefir, and kombucha for probiotic ingestion. If you’re not a kitchen person and have spare bucks, research and shop for the best pre-made probiotic supplements to stay in good health.
Are you a camper? Water collected from ponds or rivers should first be filtered to remove obvious sediment and other solid matter. Add 10 to 25 drops of GSE to each gallon of water. Shake and let it sit for a few minutes. The GSE water treatment is considered effective for ridding amoebas and other parasites as well as most pathogenic bacteria.
Skin irritations like acne or dandruff can be treated topically with GSE as well. But, never put undiluted GSE extract onto dry skin and always avoid getting it into your eyes.
Diluted GSE can be used as a mouthwash or in neti pots for nasal issues. Expect a tingling sensation to occur on areas where GSE is applied. Lastly, GSE can be used as a disinfecting vegetable rinse. Add 20 drops into a large container or sink full of cold water and let fruits and vegetables soak for a just a short time.
GSE is a relatively unknown, inexpensive solution without side effects for many microbial maladies. Go for it.
