Urgent: Last Chance to Make the USDA Listen to Our Plea: No 2,4-D!

pesticidesWhile countries around the world are still recovering from Agent Orange chemicals used during Vietnam (countless VA vets can tell you their personal experiences being exposed to the poison), the USDA has completely ignored Americans as they have requested that 2,4-D NOT be approvedfor use by Big Ag.

This is our last chance to send a message so loud that it absolutely cannot be ignored. Sure, the USDA is bought out by biotech, but we can’t let them think they are going to get away with this.

There is a 30-day window to make comments for the USDA’s recently disclosed position of approval for 2,4-D chemicals. It might be our last chance to stop this chemical assault. Please –

Over 500,000 people around the country have already written to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and 50 members of Congress sent a letter to the USDA and EPA urging the agencies to reject approval of these crops. So what are they thinking? Their support of biotech and abdication of the desires of American’s for their own health and well-being has never been more obvious.

Biotech wants 2,4-D to be approved because their ‘promise’ of better crop yields and more food to feed the growing populations of the world with the use of RoundUp ready crops has already proved disastrous. Cancer, Alzheimer’s, birth defects, reproductive failure, Parkinson’s, autism, kidney and liver diseases, and gut failure are already plaguing our nation due to these chemicals, yet we are supposed to lie down and take MORE?!

2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxy) is one of the most toxic herbicides in the world. It was developed in the 1940s and is still used in some countries today, though it causes all sorts of health issues, few of them mild. It has been called:

Far and away the most toxic of the Army’s Rainbow Herbicides.”

Currently, more than 46 million pounds of 2,4-D are applied annually, with the global marketplace for the herbicide accounting for more than $300 million (EPA RED Facts, 2005 and PAN-UK, 1997) Don’t let Monsanto, Dow Chemical, and other companies expand their market share even more. They are killing us!
