If you experience irritation and prolonged redness, apply a cold compress on the area that is waxed. The cold compress can reduce the redness and inflammation caused by waxing. Applying lavender oil or tea tree oil will also help soothe the skin. Topical application of chamomile oil rose oil, aloe vera gel and cucumber can also be very effective in reducing the bumps on the skin. Mix half a cup of raw milk with half a cup of water, dissolve a towel in the solution and apply it on the skin. The lactic acid in milk will help soothe the area and reduce inflammation. If you get bumps after waxing, treat them by applying a cortisone cream. Cortisone will help restrict the blood vessels to diminish redness. Wear loose clothing and natural fabrics like cotton, after waxing, so that it is easier for your skin to breathe. Synthetic clothes can cause itching and irritation in the waxed area. Remember not to touch the waxed skin as it can cause irritation. Do not expose newly waxed skin to direct sunlight for at least 24 hours before or after waxing. Don’t use shower gel or lotion on the area for 24 hours as it can irritate the skin. The top layers of skin may be stripped during waxing, which can make the skin more sensitive and prone to irritation. Therefore, it is best to avoid heat treatments like steam or sauna at least for 2-3 days after waxing. Also, keep your bath water lukewarm instead of hot as it can also cause irritation.If the red bumps persist more than three days after waxing, it is best that you consult a doctor.
