Guide to buying the healthiest bread
Read this before you purchase bread the next time.

It should read ‘100 percent whole grain’
You know that whole grain bread can be the healthiest pick because of all the fibre, vitamins, and protein they provide. But it is also important to examine the label on the packet. The label should read ‘100% whole grain’. Some bread labels themselves ‘whole grain’ even if it is just 50% whole grain.

Contain very few additives
The number of artificial colours, flavours and preservatives are also important. Remember the fewer the ingredients, the better the bread. Never opt for bread that is high in trans fats and fructose corn syrup. If you are unable to understand what the ingredient means, the best idea would be to look it up on Google quickly. Find out the number of calories in different types of bread.

Should be rich in fibre
You need around 25g of fibre in a day and half of your daily fibre intake should come from whole grains. Fibre keeps you full and encourages healthy bowel movements. Look for the fibre content in the packet. You should ideally go for the one which has over 3g fibre per slice. For additional fibre, you can look for bread containing rye and quinoa.

Should not be incredibly soft or fluffy
Also, give the loaf of bread a gentle squeeze. If the loaf compresses way too easily, drop that one and look for denser ones. Manufacturers rely on chemicals to make the bread soft and fluffy so it is best you avoid them. Also, you should stop eating brown bread right away.

When it comes to bread, you do not have to shell out your money in buying organic bread as it does not make a difference.
